"Wholesome Spaghetti Squash and Hearty Meat Sauce Fusion"
Traditional pasta recipes can be replaced with delicious and healthful spaghetti squash with meat sauce. When cooked, spaghetti squash has a distinct texture that mimics spaghetti and a mild, slightly sweet flavor.
Ingredients:
Applied to the spaghetti squash
- A single medium spaghetti squash
- Oil of olives
- Pepper and salt
Regarding the beef sauce:
- 1 pound (450 grams) of ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced finely
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- One 14-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz) can of tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- One tablespoon dried basil
- 1/8 teaspoon optionally added red pepper flakes for heat
- To taste, salt and pepper
- Optional garnishes of freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil leaves
Instructions:
1. Get the spaghetti squash ready:
- Set the oven's temperature to 400°F (200°C).
- Split the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise, then use a spoon to scoop out the seeds.
- Rub salt and pepper on the squash's sliced sides after brushing them with olive oil.
- Arrange the squash halves on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil or parchment paper, cut side down.
- Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven, or until the flesh is soft and easily separates into spaghetti-like strands.Cooking time may change according to the size of Squash.
2. Make the sauce for the meat:
- Get the beef sauce going while the spaghetti squash bakes.
- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil to medium-high heat in a big skillet or pot.
- Add the chopped onions and simmer for 3–4 minutes, or until tender and transparent.
- Add the minced garlic and stir; simmer for an additional one to two minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the pan and heat, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula as it cooks, until it is browned.
- Add the tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes. Add the crushed red pepper flakes (if using), (dried oregano), (dried basil), (salt and pepper) to taste.
- Simmer the sauce for a few minutes before lowering the heat. To enable the flavors to mingle, let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
3. Put the dish together:
- When the spaghetti squash is finished cooking, use a fork to scrape the flesh into strands that resemble spaghetti. The strands should be put in a big dish.
- Drizzle the meat sauce over the spaghetti squash and toss everything together gently to coat everything with the sauce.
4. Serve:
- Distribute the spaghetti squash and beef sauce between dishes or plates.
- If wanted, top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
